Valério Xavier

Son and nephew of founding musicians of Brasilia’s Clube do Choro, Valério Xavier began his musical journey at the age of 13 playing percussion for fun with friends and family. By 14 he was not only studying pandeiro, he was recording Dois de Ouro – A nova cara do velho choro with Fernando César and Hamilton de Holanda. He then studied music theory, harmony and cavaquinho with Holanda. By virtue of both good genes and good fortune, all was lost: he had set his sights on a career as a musician.

And a versitile one – Valério sings and plays a variety of instruments. He has taught both pandeiro and cavaquinho at the Escola Brasileira de Choro Raphael Rabello and can do so for us as well, as needed. On the musician side of the microphone he has worked with many artists of national and international renown: Paulo Moura, Jorge Aragão, Altamiro Carrilho, Paulinho da Viola, Dona Ivone Lara, Beth Carvalho, and many more. On the other side of the mic, Valério has worked with an equal number as a producer and sound technician. He’s looking forward to working with you.
