Suggested Repertoire for Rodas

Outside of classes and facilitated rodas you are, of course, welcome to play whatever you’d like, with whomever you like. That said, choro repertoire is vast, so it may be easier to find common ground with others if you prepare some of the repertoire we recommend below. We’ll suggest a place and time to meet in the evening to play tunes from each of the collections below. Show up, dig in. 🙂

Tocando com Jacob

The following well-known choros are selected from two of Jacob do Bandolim’s recordings, Chorinhos e Chorões and Primas e Bordões. They are also from the book/cd set, Tocando com Jacob: Partituras & Playbacks (Play-Along with Jacob), often available through The Choro Shop. That set includes the actual accompaniments that Jacob used to prepare his solos for the recording, so they are of exceptional quality. Others (not us) have uploaded many of those tracks to YouTube, and we’ve provided links to those “videos” below. The sheet music is available through the above-mentioned book/cd set, but all are also included in the Choro Songbook (CSB) series. We’ve indicated the volume of that series in which you can find each tune.
