Josimar Carneiro

Josimar Carneiro is a professor at UNIRIO, coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) and responsible for the subjects Arrangement and Popular Orchestra Practice. He is a 7-string guitarist with the award-winning group Água de Moringa, with thirty-six years of outstanding activity in Brazil and abroad.

He has performed as a guitarist and arranger in various groups such as the Brazilian Music Orchestra, the Brazilian String Orchestra, the Camerata Gama Filho, and with various Brazilian popular music artists such as Elza Soares, Ney Matogrosso, Jair Rodrigues, Mestre Marçal, Nélson Sargento, Wilson Moreira, Ney Lopes, and Dona Ivone Lara.

Josimar also works as a producer, musical director, arranger, and composer, especially in partnership with Miguel Falabella. Among his works, the original soundtrack for the feature film Veneza (2019), the soundtrack, production, and musical direction for the series O Coro – Sucesso Aqui Vou Eu (2022) for Disney+, the musical production for the series O Som e a Sílaba (2024) – Disney+, as well as the musical direction and arrangements for the plays Nara (2024/2025) and Martinho – Coração de Rei (2024/2025).
