Half Camp 2026

We have decided not to offer a half camp option at CCNE this year. This will likely disappoint some people, and we’re sorry for that.

The bottom line is this: if we don’t want people to opt for half-camp, we shouldn’t offer it. And right now, the half-camp option is hard for us in a variety of ways. Campers who arrive or leave at odd times necessarily require additional personal attention — and we don’t have the staff to offer it to them properly. Another challenge is that Choro Camp is designed as an integrated program: what we learn in the morning contributes to what we do later in the day; what we learn today is what we share tomorrow. This approach makes it hard to accommodate partial attendees.

Finally, half camp is a luxury we can’t yet really afford. CCNE is not financially structured to be a short, cheap event. Airfares, work visas, meals, housing, advance instructional materials, etc. — all these require significant up-front work and expense. We need a matching investment of time and money from our participants, and to suggest otherwise is misleading. Full time campers and artist sponsors make possible what we offer here. We invite you to join them, and us, for the whole Choro Camp experience.
