Here's a (relatively) simple cavaquinho accompaniment for Jacob do Bandolim's Saracoteando, which is in the Core Repertoire for Choro Camp 2025. I hope someone finds it helpful! Feedback is welcome. 🙂

Andrew, this is so so helpful!   Really makes the cavaquinho on-ramp much more accessible.  Especially for those of us who don't speak Portuguese (almost all of the books and videos are in Portuguese, as you know).

Thanks Andrew!  Yes, finding this to be a very helpful entry point to the tune, chart, and related cavaquinho grips.

Additional feedback....

Worked through A part of this tune this afternoon with a music friend that plays mandolin professionally (and teaches) and has working familiarly with Choro. We had a blast breaking it down into parts for me to get a bit settled with the  cavaquinho part and then re-assembling back together to play through completely (of course, at much slower non-Choro trempo!).

The grips and basic chart you've provided helped me start producing some musical accompaniment very quickly.  We were able to cycle through the changes quite a bit with him playing accompaniment, melody, and some soloing on his mandolin. It sounded "right" and meshed as expected with the mandolin.

My first playing of my cavaquinho with another "live" person! So much fun!Definitely getting me primed for camp in June! Thank you!
