Topic starter

This thread is intended to collect information and discussion about women musicians in choro. Please add links to artists, instrument makers, and anything else related to women in choro.

I'm including links that have already been shared to get things started. The CCNE WhatsApp group also has discussion. We already have a number of outstanding women among our ranks, both as faculty and campers.

Some of the women in Sydney’s Choro scene have formed their own all-female group Choro das Minas.
Gigs and activities can be seen at https://chorocollective.com.au/

Choro Das Minas

Choro das Minas is Sydney’s all-female Brazilian choro band, dedicated to celebrating culture and empowerment through music. They explore classic choro compositions by legendary composers such as Chiquinha Gonzaga, Ernesto Nazareth, and Pixinguinha. Choro das Minas aims to provide a platform for women in music, fostering a supportive and inspiring environment while bringing the rich heritage of Brazilian choro to a wider audience.
