Evening Activities
The main evening activity, most evenings, is informal rodas de choro. Sit down, and play.
That said, if someone wants to make something else happen for part of the evening, this is where we can let you know about it. Let us know if you have an evening activity in mind. It could be:
- “X is hosing a slow roda on very standard repertoire.”
- “Y is offering to host a reading of each other’s originals — a composer’s circle.”
Whatever. The event is yours to make your own. Check back here every day as evening approaches to see what’s on tap.

Roda de Samba Preview/Sing-Along
with Andrew Lawrence and Mauro Correa
7:30 – 9 / Duckett Living Room
In the Special Topic devoted to Samba Cantado, the teachers are going over 6 of the songs we’ll be playing in the roda de Samba on Friday night. But there are another 13 songs we plan to sing. Mauro and Andrew are leading a preview/practice sing-along of these tunes tonight. Many of these songs have a short section that is relatively easy to chime in on, even if you don’t speak Portuguese. This will help you get in on the fun tomorrow night.
Forró Party
